37-year-old photographer currently working and living in Los Angeles; first-generation Peruvian immigrant family. After graduating from California State University at Fullerton with a Bachelor’s Degree in visual communications and a minor in sociology in 2010, I attended the Look3 Festival of the Photograph in Virginia and later the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop in Istanbul. I relocated to Lima, Peru at the beginning of 2011 to document social work in the slums as a contracted photojournalist for an NGO called Medlife, and also to get in touch with my rich cultural heritage. I worked as an assistant for Ben Rusnak (Food For The Poor, Inc.) at Foundry in Buenos Aires in 2011, and assisted Maggie Steber (Nat Geo) in Mexico City in 2017. I returned to the U.S. in 2018 to care for my father after he suffered brain trauma and am currently working on a personal project about gender identity and transphobia.
